Connecting Mac to Windows 2003 Server

Anybody got any idea how we get one Mac running OS9 to see a new Server - Windows 2003 Standard Edition - on the network. This is the only Mac in the company and all the other PCs have not had a problem seeing it.

TIA!

I'm pretty sure MS dropped appletalk support for any OS after win2k..

soooo, you might have to purchase PC Maclan (or something similar) or upgrade to OS X which would see the server right off the bat!

We've just seen the AppleTalk protocol so it is obviously still there!

We need to restart the server after changing it and that is out of the question at the moment

We are stuck until we can see if this works.

Hey Bart,

There's a great website for macintosh and windows cross platform stuff called http://www.macwindows.com back in the old days of OS9 and windows NT/98 I visited this website quite a bit.

Never really was a big fan of PCMaclan. When OSX came out and I was able to use Samba That was great. Now OSX comes with Samba.
Samba is a true Open Source Triumph. I have heard otherwise from some MCSE guys. Go Figure.

Cool..

didn't realize they still incorporated Appletalk in windows..

once you enable it, I think you need to create a new share that will be available for appletalk clients (at least on win2k you need to)

Has anyone had this problem?
I'm trying to get going on a G5 10.3.7 with a window 2000 pc server/ Trueflow workflow. I was trying to get suitcase set-up. When copied to the server and viewed they show zero K "unix_executable_file" I can copy to my hard drive and work a file. But putting them on the server screws them up. I have hundreds of fonts I can't access.
Any thoughts.

appletalk isn't necessary.

Just make sure Shares for Macintosh (SFM) is enabled.

Edit: oops! Didn't see the original post on this was from 2003! Well, better late than never!
