Layers Magazine

Just thought I'd share this with those who might not be familiar...
I get an email "Tip of the day" everyday for INDD, PS, ILLY OR Acrobat.
It's usually a pretty good "trick"
Here's the link
Good source for info and techniques.
Enjoy :P
Vee

EDIT:
Here's today's tip:
Adobe InDesign CS2 Tip ? Wrapping the Invisible

You?re working on two versions a comp layout. The only difference between the two is that one of the two has an extra image that the text Wraps around. To save time, you have both versions on the same page with the extra image on a separate layer all its own. When you turn off this layer by clicking on its ?Eye? icon in the Layers palette, much to your amazement the text continues to wrap the image that is no longer visible.

Hmm! Is this a InDesign bug?

Nope, you just need to change your Layer Options. Simply double-click on the invisible Layer in the palette listings and check ?Suppress Text Wrap When Layer is Hidden. And as if by magic, your text will no longer wrap the Text Wrap in the invisible Layer.

Tip provided by Jeff Witchel, Certified Adobe? Training Provider.

For those who care...
Here is todays tip.

Layers magazine Tip of the Day

Adobe Illustrator CS2 Tip ? You Say Color and I Say Colour.

You?re designing a poster for your client in the UK that will be used in both the USA and the UK. You always Spellcheck (Edit > Check Spelling) your work, trying to dispel that rumor that artists can?t spell. The problem is that spelling in American English and British English can be very different.

Solution: Set up the American type in one Layer and the British type in another and turn off one Layer while viewing or outputting the other (click the Eye next to the Layer Name). In your Character palette (Window > Type > Character), go to the Options (Arrow) menu of the palette and check Show Options if ?Language? is not available at the bottom of the palette. In the British Layer, select the text and change the Language to ?English: UK.? In the American text Layer, the Dictionary for the selected text should be ?English: USA.? When you check your Spelling (Edit Check Spelling), the appropriate Dictionary will be used by Illustrator. As a Character palette setting, you can change the Language?even if it?s for just one selected word.

Yea.. that tip would help you for sure! Instead of using 3 different docs and linking up 3 times... just do it once, in one document!
Print .ps > .pdf for each different layer and pooof!! Less files - less mess.
Best,
Vee

Adobe Illustrator CS2 Tip ? Making Point Text Flow Again
You?ve been asked to edit the text in an high-resolution Acrobat, because the original layout has been lost. You open the PDF in Illustrator only to discover that the body copy that you need to change is ?point text? with each character being a separate text object. This could make minor editing into a major hassle with lots of maneuvering of individual characters.

Not to worry! There is an easier way. Marquee across all the individual text objects and Copy them (Edit > Copy). Create a new Text Frame with your Text tool and go to Edit > Paste. The pasted copy should become easy-to-edit flowing text again. It usually works nicely, but don?t be surprised if on occasion, there are no spaces between the words.
