The Spine Calc, Default Folder and Graphic Converter would all make my list
should this topic ever come up again. Thanks, folks!!

Just another reason I keep tuned to what's going on here

I posted this in the Fonts forum and was asked to post it here.

FontBook (not Font Book that comes with Panther) allows you to print a directory of all your fonts in various sizes, etc.

Its cheap ($10) & easy.

TinkerTool version 3.4 (Not TinkerTool System).

This application lets you make changes to the Preferences that you would normally have to edit text files to modify.

Most notably is the ability to change the premissions of new files and folders. This is helpful if you want other users to share files and folders without having to manually grant access. Set it and forget it.

Thanks for all these ideas! Default Folder has been my best productivity booster for many years. I've never had a problem with it, and it sure beats moving up and down directories from one server to another. Even OS X's Sidebar isn't a match for it!

I assume that Spine Calcualtor is for perfect bound?

Thanks again!

That's correct, perfect bound books have a spine - saddle stitch has creep.

Drop Drawers is a great application. In OS9 you could drag a folder to the bottom of your screen and you would have a popup folder. This is the closest thing to OS9. You can put the popup drawers on all 4 sides of your screen.
I put all of my application Alias' in popup folders for easy access.

For me, it's Default Folder:

Allows you to quickly navigate open/save dialog boxes.
Thanks Cory! I've been using it for only 2 days now and it has already saved me a lot of time navigating through folders.

Tips

To get rid of Spam I use PostArmor http://www.postarmor.com
This downloads the headers of emails only. But it does need a LOT of tweaking.
A raelly useful utility is MenuMeters which I've had on the menu bar for over two years. It gives a constant readout in percentage of the CPU and a bar graph of memory. This enables me to spot problems with applications, websites, etc. really quickly.

Onyx is really useful for doing regular Mac OS X system tidy ups.

Hope this helps.
