Font Woes

Hi,

I am baffled, frustrated and hating PCs more and more everday! We use a print broker who doesn’t use any Macs. Their workflow is to haul files off CD/DVD on their end to their PC and repost to a FTP for our retrieval sometimes zipped most often not. The problem is all the fonts (Postscript) turn to crap (except for .ttf and .otf) once they hit their PC and have a 0K file size. This happens no matter if the file is zipped or isn’t. Is there a setting on the PC that needs to be changed to recognize postscript fonts? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

With Type One Postscript fonts for the Mac, all the needed data is in the resource fork of the file, which is lost when the file is copied to a PC. Your broker needs to provided you with the original CD/DVD or invest in a Mac. You can compress the files on a Mac AND THEN post to the FTP, but Mac Type One Postcript fonts on a PC won't work.
