This is the part that is confusing me. Even though a drop shadow is used and illustrator considers it a transparency you still shouldn't flatten the artwork. Just either save it out as an illustrator eps file which you can distill with acrobat trueflow settings, or export it out with the trueflow settings (PDF) directly out of illustrator. There is no need to flatten the file in either case.

I agree. I just dont have any control over the art dept, I get what I get. and they create their own pdf's to send us and other printers.(in the past when I gripe/suggest a different way, they inevitably tell me that the other printers in town are not having the same issue, so it MUST be me) The art dept is at another site, so its not like I can just walk down there and slap them upside the head and say quit doing that. :lol: anyway you could post an example of what you guys are getting, or send me one??... Im curious about if it IS the same issue or if your's is totally different.
