How to create a MAC OSX Printer for Trueflow

To create a Trueflow virtual printer on Mac OSX:

1. Insert the Trueflow Version 3.01 Application CD-ROM into the
CD-ROM drive.

2.Copy the ?DS TRUEFLOW_E V1.4? PPD from the Macintosh
Utilities > PPD folder on the Trueflow Version 3.01 Application
CD-ROM to Library > Printers > PPDs > Contents > Resources >
en.lproj.

3. Navigate to the Applications > Utilities folder on your computer.

4. Double-click ?Print Center? (Mac OS 10.2.x) or ?Printer Setup
Utility? (Mac OS 10.3 or 10.4). The Printer List window will appear.

5. Click the ?Add? button. A dialog box will appear that allows you
to add a new printer.

6. In the top drop-down list, select ?IP Printing.?

7. Enter ?Trueflow? in the ?Printer?s Address? (Mac OS X v10.2.x) or
?Printer Address? (Mac OS X v10.3.3 or later) field.

8. Select ?DS? in the ?Printer Model? or "Print Using" pop-up menu.

9. Select ?DS TRUEFLOW_E V1.4.?

10. Click the ?Choose? or "Add" button. The PPD will appear in the ?Printer
Model? field.

11. In Mac OS 10.2.x, an error message will
appear. If you see this error message, click the ?Continue? button.

12. The ?Trueflow? printer will appear in the Printer List dialog box.
The Trueflow printer can now be used with QuarkXPress v6.0. or any Mac OSX application.

Regards,
Sean

Instead of using an output specific ppd, go get the ddapv3 ppd. I asked my agfa "trainer" why i would use the apogee ppd instead of the ddap one, his reply was "what's that".

The DDAP Association has created a Universal PPD (PostScript Printer Description) that may be used for all your print files, no matter what their final destination. It alleviates the time-consuming inconvenience of having to use multiple PPD's for multiple jobs, or even multiple PPD's for a single job going to multiple output devices.

Working with over twenty-five representatives of publishers, prepress providers and printers, DDAP developed a PPD that is device independent. In addition, in order to ensure "good file" creation, DDAP recommends specific Printer Drivers and offers "How To" procedures for the most commonly used application programs.
