Hey man all im saying is he could throw his weight around with out actually having to do anything physical. Is it still a verbal threat, yes it is, But the guys already harassing your wife. Tell me something, do you wanna go through life as the Pin or the Bowling Ball. Id take the latter and ive been the knocked down enough times to know.

I actually chalk it up to the fact that the sales manager is a dick. I don't believe in the Pin/Bowling Ball philosophies. I figured I'll just give him enough room to hang himself, and use it against him next time he tells me 'You can't go home coz I need you to stay and soemthing for me.' then whines to the general manager and I get called in for having a poor attitude.

I see your point but if you have a problem with him you should confront him or go to the boss right away. If you get in trouble for your attitude and you decide to go off about it then, it will seem petty and won't have the impact you want. Being direct is always more effective.

earendil is right

and stevinator is right as well - document it, try to get witnesses, save emails etc - and nail the sucker.

as for the other solutions - they're right too - i'd slap the fckutiw about and cause all sorts of crap - but being a manager here i cant - so i'll recommend the proper route

of course, for a fee i'm sure earendil will create an "accident" for the fella too.....
