I live down the road from a printing and binding machine supplier. They had a big cleanup the other week and amongst the old packing crates and old drums of chemicals etc was a crosfield scanner - very dusty but with most of the internals still there. I was contemplating on towing it home in the car.

I tried moving one of these by myself one time when moving factories. I thought the wheels were locked but it was the fact it weighs just over a tonne.

A fair few years ago while restructuring the studio, we had one of those that would eventually have ended up in the plate library after the partitioning walls had been built.

I asked my boss at the time 'How the hell we gonna move that effing thing?'

He walked off with a shrug and a one word answer - 'Dynamite!'

I hadn't laughed so hard in ages and it still makes me smile
