"I have to let you go, due to a lack of work"

Next time someone says "got a minute" say NO!
Unfortunately that's been a running joke at more than one shop I've been let go from. When employees are asking one another "got a minute?" then laughing, you know the future is not looking good!

Print shops seem to come and go in Phoenix, I guess that's just the way the industry is. Been laid off twice and fired twice (that doesn't include the times I had to find a new job on my own before the layoffs began or shops went under).

And shoveling elephant s*** would be more rewarding if the pay were about the same - at least you'd know what kind of s*** you'd be dealing with that day, and you'd just be disposing of it instead of producing a work of art from it.

Anyway, good luck in the job hunt Sparky. I hope you find something much much better than prepress. Something with a bright future!

But he could produce a work of art from it, as seen here

I got canned last October. Had a steady freelance gig from Oct to June. Unemployment is financing me between freelance gigs. Just finished some wedding announcements, but hey, I'm doing OK.

I've decided I'm going to be picky about whom I go to work for on a permanent basis.

I think before long, we'll all end up at an Agency, they seem to be taking everything in house and printers are getting so automated now they only need like 3 people (maybe).
