Hooray, It's my favorite day!!

With the addition of a 4-color Heidelberg SM74 to our floor last week, we had a new salesman start today.

Hooray, it's my favorite day!! ...two more start next week. :?

Sales people are your friend. You just have to get them when they're young enough and not too set in their ways. That way you can still train them. The way I look at it... they are a necessary evil. If we didn't have Sales people, we wouldn't have jobs.

Oh, Im not moaning. Just raving about how much I love that my boss just hired a salesman to sell printing to printers. And dude wanted a Business card this morning, with...

wait for it..

a CMYK color bar and a registration bullet. No company name, and his info in Futura Light.

He even was kind enough to print out the webpage from fonts.com to show me what futura light looked like.

I said, oh I'll just have to look and see if I cant find a font close. I watched it bubble under his collar..

...like I said.. My favorite day!!

Without sales reps we'd have to close our doors, or go out and sell ourselves. Get them
up to speed by sharing some of your prepress brillance with them.

Well sure, I do enjoy a good salesrep, I even can respect them... but it doesnt take someone with half a brain to know this train will wreck.. I suppose its about the numbers.. Boss brings in 3, at least one's got to work out... right?

Answer me this...

Does a salesman who is selling printing to printers, need to have more print knowledge than if he was selling printing to non-industry customers?

They don't "have" to know anything... but it sure would help!
Especially selling to other printers, who may know something!

Good luck _43.
