No need for the hammer, the lady would probably think I would use it to do her nails...

I'd be happy if the customer put the name of the file ANYWHERE in the paperwork. I just get "It's on the FTP" and I have to guess. At least when I put folders for the different clients on the FTP they caught on and started using their folders.

so csr got back to miss "stroppy" - she was all huffy puffy, she gave us the file name (wahoo) and off we went again...

.....until i found it actually WASNT on the ftp at all....and when we went back to her with that and her attitude was it was our fault

Ah the love of being in prepress and always wrong (at least from the client's side). This is why we were created with 4 cheeks to turn when slapped by the "know it all" client.

Let then slap the two on your face first, then slap the two on you rear side as you bill them for "services". Sometimes the phrase "kiss my..." is uttered at this stage. The trouble client sometimes are not worthy and passing them on to another supplier is actually a money maker.

thanks jim yea yer right

did eventually get the artwork (when thy DID put it on their ftp) and surprise surprise we had a few problems - no varnish free areas, no positional guide, trapping wrong....

"its critical for colour" they said

ok - i'll cromalin it - our presses match that fine

"no - not good enough - i'm sending a sample from the last run to match to"

"ok no problems - how old is the sample by the way?"

"2 years old"

:?

luckily its just a 2 colour job and we'll split elements up for the press so i think we'll run it as a 4 plate job (still printing 2 colours - just having some elements on one plate - some on another - you get the picture) and the press will match the sample perfectly and all will be good

matching old samples happens frequently here - makes for fun sometimes
