What do owners want?!

Check out this requirement package for a plant manager here in Phoenix.

Unless this person is going to make 200K a year, will they find anyone?

Owners are on some drugs.

Job Description
Commercial Printing
Plant Manager


The Plant Manager reports directly to the President/CEO. It is the responsibility of the Plant Manager to see to the efficient day-to-day manufacturing operation of the Company. As a Senior Manager the Plant Manager is included in strategic and tactical planning.


He/she will serve as an integral member of a team whose critical mission is to assure the Company’s’ continued growth and strength as a leading provider of traditional and digital printing services, directing the activities of Prepress, Printing, Finishing, Trafficking and all areas of Production. In addition, the Plant Manager works on a peer level with the Sales Manager and CFO to ensure efficiency.


1: Ensure achievement of Company financial, productivity, spoilage and efficiency goals as detailed in the Company’s Strategic Plan, through leadership, efficient management, discipline and positive motivation.

2: Maintain strict financial controls of manufacturing, achieving budgetary targets.

3: Achieve outstanding production efficiency by strictly controlling waste, carefully managing labor costs and communicating effectively with the work force and all internal and external customers.

4: Assure compliance with all safety, health and environmental requirements.

5: Oversee proper maintenance of all equipment and systems.

6: Oversee proper maintenance of building facilities, and maintain a clean, attractive environment. Create a work environment free of collusion, which supports ultimate trust, integrity and empowerment without personal agendas. Maintain a commitment to a unified dream, goal and mission.

7: Create an employee recognition program involving (and nourishing) both workplace and family, that can affect staff daily, monthly and annually.

8: Act ethically, honestly and consistently at all times.

9: Other assignments as deemed necessary by President/CEO.

This position is critical to the success of the Company. Attention to detail, combined with an eye to the overall daily, weekly, monthly and long-term situation of the Company is required. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed. You will be expected to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested by the President/CEO.


Experience:

10 years experience in the sheetfed printing industry with increasing management responsibility, with at least three of those years as manager of a facility with at least 40 employees producing at least $5mm.


Education:

The Plant Manager must have at least 10 years experience in management in a sheetfed print production environment, both traditional and digital. A bachelor’s degree in graphic arts business management or related experience is preferred, or the equivalent of the above through on-the-job training and experience hands-on in each of the cost centers of a typical, similar plant.



Craft Skills:


High Level of mechanical skills and mechanical aptitude.
Comprehensive understanding of the elements of successful operation for all cost centers.
Wide knowledge of other graphic arts systems, machinery and concepts.
An understanding of production costs on budgeted hourly cost basis and value-added basis.
Understanding and experience in organizational management systems.
Understanding of statistical process controls and process analysis.
Understanding of graphic arts management systems such as PSI, Logic, Prinance, etc.
Computer skills, business and graphics, and the ability to use them in the workplace.
Understanding of computer assisted prepress, press and digital workflow systems.

Working Conditions:


Appearance at all times must represent the company image.
Work area may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
Extended computer work involving use of keyboard and mouse.
Moderate noise level.
Exposure to ink and chemical fumes, and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
Occasional overtime.
Fast-paced environment; subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.

MAybe I am mssing somethig or stoppped reading too soon but as a manager of the operations it doesn't sound that bad as bad as it does sound.

You would still have supervisor that you would direct to do most of the work. It is a worker managing job. If you cna count on the prepress super the print and binder to do there part you are pretty good but the 200k sounds really good

There is something very, very wrong with this company.

This is poorly written and very poorly presented.

They need to hire a consultant with professional recruiting skills to clean this up for them. Ick.

Whoever it is will impact solutions and think outside the box. He might even leverage opportunities in cross-media and repurpose content to facilitate, I dunno, all kinds of stuff.
