The G5 iMacs aren't any better with their power supply problems. We've got two of them and we've used up 5 power supplies between them. At least Apple is paying for them.

You reckon that sucks. I forked out $4k for a top-of-the-range powerbook, as I didn't want the new mac book things with the new processor. Stuffed if I was going to fork out for new software, you see.

Anyhow, the bastard freezes up every hour or so, which is pure pain. Formatted and started from scratch and nothing. It's under warranty and can be replaced, but I'll end up with the bloody Intel processor that demands new software - unless you want to run in a classic type environment. Not the exact term, but it's got some old native thingy for the software made for the power pc machines.

Should have just purchased a G5 and left it in the study.

We have one out of 10 or so that have a serial in the range...but thus far we've had no indication of any problems from it. Good to know about potential problems prior to them actually h appening.

Maybe it won't happen...*fingers crossed*
