Will somebody switch off the BS machine?
I've had it. Two months ago I came up with a proposal for the project we are currently working on and had a row with my assistant, which ended up with me getting the blame for it, when it was clear to all concerned I wasn't at fault.
Now my 'assistant' has come up with and idea that is remarkably similar to mine, so much so that it's identical. But now it's a great idea, full steam ahead. THEN I have a talking to about why I'm so miserable.
I'm bashing my head against a brick wall. Painful and pointless. Gotta get a new job.
I'm getting crapola in work and crapola outside work. All I got is the end of a bar and the end of my tether.

Don't you just hate office politics.......
Sounds to me like you do not 'have the PM's full support'. Put your predicament in writing and send it to your boss, HR and your bosses' boss. See if you can do a deal for you to walk, otherwise you might have a case for constructive dismissal.
Make sure you include a good reference as part of the deal.
At the end of the day it's only a job and your sanity is worth more. As far as I understand you have no ties ie wife/kids so you should be free to do whatever you want.
I know I'm a fine one to talk put try staying off the booze for a few days if you can. It really doesn't help in these situations.

Bless you Bart, you're dead right. I don't think I can approach my bosses though and I need a favour from HR next week.
Laying off the booze would be great, however it is the only thing keeping me sane. If I hadn't gone out last night I wouldn't have laughed for days, where as people were kind and good and entertained and distracted me.
Off for an adventure tonight, a new boozer has opened at the back of London Bridge. Another bar for me to sit at the end of...

So are you saying you won't write the letter? Well then how the hell are you supposed to get this situation sorted? It won't go away by itself, it needs to be sorted. Write the bloody letter, it might help put things into perspective. PM me with it before you send it if you want. I'll give you an honest, unbiased opinion but hopefully some confidence in your own worth. (That's something your badly lacking at the moment IMHO).

And you don't think it's affecting your work/pocket? I think your bosses may have an opinion on that one.
Sometimes we need to bring these things out in the open to get the true picture from all concerned.
Rule No 1 Jezz - Do it, review it, change it. It's the only way forward. But you have to do it first, otherwise nothing changes.

I won't write the letter.
It's too far gone as far as I'm concerned. My bosses won't listen to me, that's why I got the blame and why I've had the talking to.
HR isn't like Personel. HR is there to protect the company from legal action basically and not for the benefit of employees.
Yeah the pubs hitting my pocket, but it's not like I'm plastered every night. I sill get here at 7.30 in the morning and I'm hitting my targets. The other option is to sit in the flat by myself and feel miserable... er, no thanks

So you're not going to do anything to try and sort your problem.
Well please don't come here moaning about it then. You've only yourself to blame and I sure ain't going to listen to that!

Believe me Bart I've tried to to sort it. The BS machine is in overdrive.
PPF isn't my first port of call with situations like this. Other people, who I have known for years and are feinds that are at my level in the company are feeling much the same.
There's something very wrong over here and it isn't me. I'm sorting it by getting another job.

I think you know that Bart is right and if it?s that far gone, as you say, you should put pen to paper if only to cover yourself.
In fact you might be surprised.
Harden up and good luck.

Cheers Neil,
Bart is right, but I've had meetings and discussions until I'm blue in the face. If I put pen to paper I would only be repeating myself. The fact is we are not sailing a happy ship. Moral throughout is rock bottom.
I've had some very frustrating battles over the last eighteen months and as I previously said I'm bashing my head against a brick wall.
You say I might be surprised, infact I'd bloody amazed!
Thanks for your thoughts guys, but I've been at this place long enough to know when I'm pissing in the wind.
I'm gonna bale out just like a lot of the rest of us... What does that tell you?

No. By putting pen to paper you change everything. You now have evidence that's admisable in court. Talk is worthless. At least by putting it in writing you are, as Neil says, covering your arse. It also allows you to negotiate your way out with a possible settlement that will see you through to your next job.
Don't talk to your colleagues about your problems. They can do nothing for you. Only the bosses can and if you aren't talking to them then you wasting everyone's time including your own.
