In my past two jobs some people moonlight as designers. Most people I know need to have more than one job any more to afford anything. Again, don't try to bite the hand that feeds you.
At my last job there was this guy who was pulling and archiving tons of files and saving them for hmself. Even after he was fired, he snuck in to burn a bunch of the stuff he had hid on the server to CD. Another employee almost got fired over that whole deal.
I don't know if they ever tried criminal tresspassing on the guy or not.

I believe that to be UNethical, and theft. I would never attempt to take files or customers that were already a customer of the shop.. I only solicit new customers through friends and contacts and that always takes place AFTER hours..

Trust me, that guy didn't care. He did plenty of stuff on company time when he wasn't coming in late or the manager wasn't calling him at home to make sure he was awake to come in.

that is the type of guy/girl that gives the rest of us a bad name - just stick to your guns and don't give out your work number, most of us have cell phones with voice mail and can check caller id and voicemail on breaks/lunch.

hey, i just realized, we've hijacked this thread, - shouldn't we still be whining and complaining about the designers out there that make our lives hell?

just got a phone call from the "designer" of the brochure set in photoshop - not a clue!

asked him to send the font and i was "told" that if I had the current version of photoshop, that I shouldn't need the font to make changes. - I HAVE EVERY CURRENT VERSION OF EVERYTHING! Updated as updates are available.

He then informed me it would take a few days to get the font to me (after much arguing), because his computer was down and he didn't back the files up to his server.

that'll learn him!

friggin' designers

"still haven't quite figured out the "quote" function for replying to posts"

Still haven't figured out why everyone does that.

Faster than re-typing the post you'd like to reference.
Or.. if someone posts in between you and the post you'd like to reply to, this again allows you to directly reference a particular person/post...
It has a purpose.
