good afternoon,
this is a very interesting topic, and i wanted to add my opinion to the pile.
while i dont enjoy the thought of being the target of the radical muslim world, and i dont like the idea of our brave troops being shipped of to the god-awful corners of the world to kill and be killed, i dont think it is fair to say that we have no business in iraq. actually, i think that quite a lot has been achieved there in a relatively short time. i watch the news every day, i read the paper, and i see what is being said by both sides of the debate (mostly CNN and FOX). but to be honest, i get more info that i find reliable from the source, the actual men and women who served.
i get a local newspaper, and every so often they have articles on the local military people who are back fro their most recent tour of duty. im not saying i know more than the next guy, but judging from the words of these fighting people, it sounds to me like the iraqis for the most part are delighted that we arrived! again, all im going on here is what ive read, but ive never seen one of the articles where the soldier has said that the honest, working people of iraq arent at least partially grateful for what the U.S. has done.
from what ive seen and read, these everyday working joes in iraq arent trying to kill U.S. soldiers. as a matter of fact, it sounds to me like they fear the day we pull out! the folks killing soldiers with car bombs are "freedom fighters", they are fighting the freedom that the U.S. represents, and in my opinion, to pull out and let these bullies overrun the country again is not the right answer. nothing worth fighting for is ever easy, and i hope this can somehow get worked out peacefully.
but hey, what do i know?
