Classic Coworker Quotes
Customers are a hoot and they have the funniest lines but we can also find humor closer to home. Coworkers can sometimes say the darndest things, including myself sometimes.
Just to get the ball rolling, I'll do my favorite from recent.
We were going to do a calendar layout for a customer from scratch. We have a typesetter type person here who does a pretty good job... normally. She decided to check our archives for calendars done by customers and picked one. Meanwhile I had done research and found a calendar maker plugin for InDesign and a couple of layouts from Adobe that we could use. So she had options.
Well, she found PageMaker calendar and decided to use that. I mentioned to her that I had found InDesign templates that would make it real easy.
Her comment to me, "I don't do InDesign." She said this in a very snooty voice.
So it took her forever and had errors and all that good jazz that made the project take much longer than it should have.
A few months passed and then she asked me to output one of her files she setup. I turned to her and said "Sorry, I don't do PageMaker." and walked away.
"I don't do InDesign"... that's a sign that an axe should drop soon.

I would think that anyone who is familier or comfortable with pagermaker would love Indy. Go figure. A much better program if not the best now. Its interface is somewhat similar to Pagewacker. :?:

"No, no, just use quark to place the pdf in the size you want and do a save page as .eps, and then take that .eps to Illy to finish the layout." I kid you not!!
this was one of those guys mentioned in the "prepress education" thread, who had 5-7+yrs experience who came in to "help" me get the shop off the ground. I tried to tell him that was rediculous, but he told me that I knew nothing because I was new to this game....
I said "Ok." and documented his time and issues...... he lasted about a week.

"How much is 2 times 3?" (no kidding)
"I'm not really that good with a ruler" (no kidding)
"What do you do if the customer has single sided originals and wants
double sided copies?"
"Do you really think they need to see a proof?" after we typeset 10 business cards,
"They really need the cards"
Those are just off the top of my head
