my MD keeps coming out with the same thing - time after time and it makes me chuckle every time

being packaging printers we work generally on one sheet at a time. he's very much "old school" and cannot get his head around the fact that there is no film planning any more.

he's amazed that we "hand plan on screen" these days..ahh bless.

All of my CSRs are always asking if "film" is ready for a job. We don't use film anymore, we're 100% CTP. In fact we haven't used film in 5 years, but it's still "Film" to them.

jim haa nice one!

when we bought our HP5000 inkjet about 5 years ago, the MD, who SIGNS THE CHEQUES and approves the ORDERS, commented that he loved our new Iris proofs........

i mentioned before about a designer who was struggling to import an illy file into quack...well he rang again this morning....

" so do i need bleed?"

"me: yes please - 3 mil wherever its needed.

him" oh - its just that i've never put bleeds on packaging before. i've tried to make clipping paths of it will that be ok? It's a complex job and i hope you will be able to understand it"

me: ???????? wtf? "yes thats fine just send it in and i'll handle it..." <under breath: call the cops i've turned into a killer>

him: so how do you want the quark file supplying?..........

me: <thinks: you really gotta be kidding me! this is a wind up right?> "In quark please........."

I'll be in the corner, shaking and mumbling to myself.....

Oh my...

If I had someone in my shop who couldn't read a ruler at least down to sixteenths, they'd be looking for work else-where.
