"I haven't had the training". I got this today and then later told off for saying RTFM to the halfwit concerned.

A client walks into the shop with a 40pg full color single run Tabloid that we print every other week and the owner sees him walk out and asks if he was dropping off art. I tell him yes and he says "good, so that will be down to plate in a couple minutes?" I laugh because surely he must be joking.... not joking... so I straighten up and say, well, no, it will be more like an hour or two (rip/trap/soft proof/impo/etc...).

He gets a puzzled/irritated look on his face and says "what, don't you just push THE button?" I look at him straight faced and say "yeah but it's a REALLY BIG button so it's going to take a couple hours" He walked away mumbling.

That is awsome. You could also ask hi to show you the button that takes a couple minutes so you can get more work done.

Yeah, I just hit the nitrous button on the keyboard, right!?! Or maybe it's like the movie Spaceballs, "Captain, take us to ludicrous speed.....", "Was that Spaceball 1?", "They've gone plaid"

We shall be loosing a member of staff shortly (I said no to hiring them) and consequently they are looking for a new job, trawling the net etc. The person concerned turned to me and said in all seriousness

"Would you call what we do digital prepress?"

I turned to my bosses boss and rolled my eyes, he didn't notice though, he was cracking up with laughter...

Here a couple for you:

CSR emailing a client, signs his name:
Regardless,
Mike

CSR Mike is now nicknamed "General Regardless"- this happened at the time of Episode III coming out.

Digital press operator: This job is not the right size, it's short...
PrePress Boss: By how much?
Digital press operator: By about two lines...
PPB: Two What?
Digital press operator: Ya know two lines.
PPB: Like on a ruler?
Digital press operator: Yeah, two lines short.
PPB: you mean 1/8 of an inch?
Digital press operator: If that's what two lines are.

Joey "2 lines" is now the digital press operator's nickname.
