why not just save it as a jpeg and send it to word?
|
Then print it out and scan it
|
take the scan to MS paint and typeset a graph and save a .bmp file...
|
Then take the .bmp file, put it in a webpage, then do a screen capture.
|
Take a photo of that with your mobile phone.....
|
 now thats quality printing 101.
|
And then take a print out of this, go outside, place it on the ground and use Google Earth to locate and make a copy of it.

fax it to me and I'll get a scan made of that, while I'm video taping it with the digital cam (for the best high quality, no less).
WOO HOO!

Pass me that scan after you've printed it out and I'll make a half tone of it. (Digs out ancient Repromaster 1300) How many dots do you want?

OK, here's a classic that happened today.
expecting a Power Point document to come in - 4 pages, 4/0
I explain to the GM and the owner how the file needs to be treated, ie: postscript, distill, acrobat, pitstop - fix the RGB blacks, check for saturation, color shift etc.
Their reaction: why don't we just print it out on the DocuColor and scan it in.
8O OK - my job is done

At our small place we cannot compete with the big places in town that upsized, lost big client, now underprice everyone just to keep the doors open. So we compete by providing excellent customer service. I spend about 60-90 minutes a week completely educating customers (designers/secretaries) how to use the single piece of software they operate every day all day long.
We have a client who gives me either a pooblisher file or a PDF created from the very same. Always in RGB, never has bleeds (or, even more sick, bleeds included for the sides but not the top and bottom edges), requests spot colors for JPEGS, etc etc. We do about 2-3 jobs a month for her, so it could be worse.
PUNCHLINE: Her company is called "Images Consulting"
So, by that reasoning, I AM a software engineer who should have a job in Redmond or Cupertino.
Another customer (with an MFA in Graphic Design) cannot, after 6 requests/reminders/heads-ups, remember to use grayscale for black-only gradients.

he may be a little right. If he is running to a standard color he always runs to and your proof is not matching press then the proof is wrong or the curves creating the plates are wrong. something to think a bout

Oh, right, this is only crazy to me because our owner has us profile our proofs to match a DuPont Waterproof, which the pressroom could never match to either.
I think he tries to sell our colorbars on the blackmarket.

do you have a process curve for your plates. If not take a day and work with pressman super and try to make a curve in the plats to match your proof. Go to www.gracol.com it has a stndard process that is great make a great neutral gray.
Get quality profile picture. I think the grcol site has some in the beta testing. Print your proof and print the plates and have hime run it.
PRofile the press adding more screen to the colors you think will improve the match. If you dont have software to do this.
