Tooooooooo funny

We have a new sales assistant walking around the shop asking for the plate stretcher that I had him go look for. He can't seem to find it.

He actually called a client (who worked in prepress before he got into sales) and that client told him that plate stretchers are old school but shops keep them around for emergencies.

This reminds me of many years ago when we had a girl come into the prepress department every day and spray the monitors with canned air (we told her it was color saver for the monitors).

I am such a mean person.

A good one is to show him how warm the ink gets well mixing it, than, slam his hand in the ink. Kinda evil but everyone I seen it happen to, including myself, has got a laugh out of it. The halftone dots rock, see a new girl look for the basement in our building to get them. Neither one existed.

I remember a metal typesetter telling a guy to look very closely. That there were holes in the metal caused by fleas. And the water he had just poured on them would force them to the surface. Then he slammed the the type together - which squirted the guy in the face.

My dad had a guy for summer help (circa 1960'S) with no printing experience who was told he would be working in the stripping area. He was sent in just his skivies (standard procedure for the stripping dept.) to a group of about 50 German's staring widly at him.

back in the day, when we shot halftones on a camera, we had an apprentice shoot a batch. Then he was to strip the job. (a simple b/w brochure) using the halftones he had shot. After he finished shooting he went to lunch and while he was gone we made contacts (positives) of his tones and put them in the hopper. When he came back, he stripped the job and made a Dylux proof. Needless to say, he was mystified by the negative images on his proof, but didn't ask anyone what went wrong. Finally the lead stripper asked the guy if the job was ready to plate yet. Well, the kid looked like he was about to cry as he went over the proof with the lead, (who was in on it). This guy explained to him that while he was at lunch, the film sat in the hopper to long before it was stripped and converted back to positive images. And the lesson to be learned was 'always finish what you start before you go to lunch or take a break'. The guy was an unbelievable trainee after that. Everything was done on time.
