Death to the Stupid MS paper clip

Is there a way to kill that freaking annoying little dancing paper clip when your working in MS apps? Preferably slowly & painful?

I'm getting sick of the "Do you want to send a Birthday greeting Message" from word myself. Microsoft sucks!

I have found that deleting Word from my machine was the only way to exterminate the paperclip :P

I thought that M$ actually released an app or something to remove that bastard a while ago? Might take an intensive Google session to turn it up, but I'm sure there was an answer...

I used a hammer. . . unfortunately when they replaced the computer it came right back. . . tough little bugger it is. . . .

Right click on it and choose hide.
You might have to do this 2 or 3 times and
you'll finally get a message asking if you want it turned off.
There's a way to do it through tools menu too I think.

You can also permanently exorcise the assistant so that no one using the computer can resurrect him. Here's how. From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs; highlight Microsoft Office, click ?Add or remove features? and hit Next. Under Office Shared Features, find Office Assistant, and then click the small arrow and choose Not Available. Click the Update button to uninstall the assistant.
