Later all

I posted this over on PP, thought I'd stick it here too. I wish you all well and hope I get to hang out with you in the future.

"It's Corys decision to shutdown PPF. I thank him for his time and desire to have a place like PPF. But to me it is a bit arrogant to assume I, or anyone who participated over there are jsut going to sign on here at PP and all will be well. After looking around a bit here, this is never a forum I would have joined had I just came across it randomly. You pretty much turned me off with some early "you guys in the trenches" remarks. I am not sure exactly why I am looked at as someone who works in the trenches, or why anyone else would think what they do for a living puts them above me.

I wish the owners of PP well, but if I have added things up correctly, you had a site no one liked, so you "bought out"(for lack of better phrase) a popular site thinking you could merge the two. Well it doesn't work that way, PPF worked well because of what it was, and PP isn't it. I will add "yet" to that last statement, because if Cory is going to be the final say on the forums, things may be alright....but I kinda doubt that is actually going to happen."

mikie

i hear ya buddy - and i dont necessarily disagree with anything you've said, but, in the spirit of ppf (the brother-sisterhood) can you not hang around a while and see if we can all make it ppf - the return/son of ppf?

give it a go. sure its cranky, sure - they're stuffy - and sure as hell it aint PPF (not even close) - and i'm not keen either - but everyone here in ppf is valued - and i rekon nobody want to lose one of "the team" - coz thats kinda how i see ppf'ers - and leaving is leaving the team kind of - so give it a while and hang on in there mate!

I havent lost all hope guys, and I appreciate your comments. I just get this icky ass feeling from that PP place. I like to talk about prepress, with prepress people. It's the reason I have always kept up with PPF. I will keep checking in over there and if all goes well then yeah, it is just a url and I am all warm inside. I just dont see a rants section going up, or a bar...and dont get me started with the vendors etc wanting to be all professional and shit. Thats not what I want to read when someone has a ? or a problem - some vendor offering advice, or some programmer more worried about their "status" than anything else. Come by my work and talk to me about a job, I am as professional as I need to be. on a FORUM, please. I dont surf the net at work, so it is on my free time and I am pretty picky about how I spend that.

you know how I found PPF??? was a couple years ago I guess, i got to thinking, "hmm, theres a website/forum for everything else, I wonder if there is one just for prepress...."

so I googled prepress forums, and I have been here ever since
