Arrow Anyone using new PDF trap engine?

NORM or ROOM workflow?

- What do you think?

- How do you like the ripping speed?

ROOM workflow

We have only used it on a few problematic pages (Indesign PDF). We noticed that it does some weird stuff, a red border dropped off text, overprints reacted way different than the normal trap settings.

It takes about 3X longer to rip a page

i used the first time the other day...saved me on a job really...there was just no trapping everything perfectly, even manually

wish I could get the OPI to work with PDF's the way it works with EPS's, I'd change the workflow

Been using it since it came out. Slower than molasses in the wintertime but it's nice not to flatten. No issues with anything dropped, remember Transparency works using overprints so make sure you have the profile set up properly. That is uncheck ignore application overprints.

Slow-Slow-Slow! even on the new boxes. But it has saved my backside on several occasions with its ability to trap spot colors with transparency in them.
Just make sure you have the latest build #37 there was a bug in the way it handled superblacks prior to this release.

New here, but also new to Rampage. There's not a book here to look things up, either.

Seems like we have new software, but just old equipment. It's has to be old because it running on 25KHz...or so it seems! I think I can conventionally strip faster!

This pdf trap, is it an optional purchase, update in software or what exactly is it? We're on 10.1b22.

I do know there are problems trapping pdfs here. In fact, I think they DON'T trap. Yeah...tell me.

Anyway, I hope to provide answers as well as throw in some questions. I do have 30 yrs commercial printing in the back pocket, sheet-fed/web press.

Have a great day everyone!
Frank
