Nexxus VS Rampage?
Does anyone here have any comparisson's between Rampage and Nexxus?
We are currently using Rampage, but may be looking at moving to Nexxus... Curious as to what you all think?

Have not used Rampage - but happy with our nexus rip. Flexible, few problems.

Didn't care for Nexus, and while Rampage had it's issue's, I still liked it better than Nexus (from a RIP standpoint). Trapping can't touch Artpro however, which is what we switched to the Desktop.... Nexus on the back end was a no-brainer (but I still liked the Rampage best).

We are thinking the same thing. I was hoping that 10.3 would fix a lot of transperency issues, but it really doesn't. It won't trap under something set to overprint, like a dieline that isn't going to print anyway. They are leaving packaging printers no option but to switch to another system.

I am using Rampage. Why do you want to switch to Nexus? What is the reason? Nexus support is the WORST. Just look in Nexus forum. Rampage maybe is not perfect - what is? but they are trying to help you right away.
If I would switch to something if I could not use Rampage I would switch to Xenith.

Hey Nicmert,
Version 10.3 doesn't help with Transperencey issues!!?? Can you give me some other examples and are you really struggling? I am super close to making a decision in a complete workflow solution and Rampage is on my list. I spoke with Rampage and they said there are no issues. The PDF workflow is supposed to Eliminate all those ILLY CT AND TRANS problems!

if your just getting into RAMpage I'd guess you'd be getting 10.4 which has fixed some issues and has the new PDF trap engine.
tequillajane, you might want to consider the same. From what I hear the new PDF trap engine is the cats meow.

I've only been running RAMPage 10.4 for about a week now, but haven't seen any issues. Just ran a poster done in Illy CS2, full of transparency, and it went through without a hiccup. Once I get used to trapping in mills I'll be all set :P

Well, like I said, it won't trap under something set to be transparent, like a dieline. That may not be an issue for you, but for us it is huge. It won't trap to a photoshop object with a transparent background that is placed over a pms color. The workaround is to make a path around the object. It crashes on extremely complex files with lots of transparency. This is a memory issue with how the OS pages out its RAM allocation. Basically it is not the build they promised at the show last fall in Chicago. They are working on all these issues and have actually fixed most of them that will be available in an upcoming build 10.4 that has not been fully released yet.
