Driver shutdown...
Finally decided to post another problem that I've been having for quite awhile now but keep forgetting to ask anyone and it's been a problem whether it is Rampage 8.4 or 9.3. When I try to print to my Screen 3050 Imagesetter, (yea, I still print film), I'm always getting driver shutdown errors. Not on a consistent basis, but every now and then. Does anyone know if this is a Rampage problem or the imagesetter? If it is Rampage...any ideas to stop this? Thanks in advance!

we have the same extact setup (3050 / Rampage 9.3) and never had a problem, unless of course the imagesetter wasn't on-line.

How's the shooter connected to the imagesetter?
Is it a stand alone shooter or is it an all in one box?
I had a problem for a bit where I couldn't rip and shoot on an all in one box at the same time. It just needed more memory.
I'm also thinking it may be a bad cable.

now that you mention it, we did have that problem in the beginning...
we are running a RIP/Shooter combo... If you need the instructions for increasing the memory, let me know. I have them taped to the side of our RIP

Driver Shutdown...
Thanks guys for responding...We've got two boxes with the DLT separated from the RIP/Shooter. Guess it could be a memory problem so if you could send me the info it would be greatly appreciated! Wouldn't rule out a bad cable either but I'll try anything at this point as it's getting really annoying. Screen tech thought maybe a hard drive was going on the imagesetter but it's been going on for some time now...who knows? but thanks for the info! Mat

If your running the rip and the shooter app on the same box I'll bet that's doing it. For a week try only letting one or the other run and see if you still get errors. Just pause the shooter. Queue up a bunch of jobs to shoot. Then pause the RIP and release the shooter. When they're done set it back. I did this for months until we upgraded to a satellite RIP. I still use that old box as my shooter, it runs great when all it has to do is shoot

okay.,...to change the memory on the RIP -
go to
C:/rsi/hqn/rampage_ui.exe
launch it
once that is launched, go to the Rampage RIP menu - Configure RIP - click on options
in there is an option for minimum memory left for system.
Ours is currently set to 200 megs.
