Trim box with Preps and Rampage ?

Hello,

First, excuse me for my poor "english", but, I"m French...

Second, we have purchase a Fuji CTP with Rampage. We have keep Preps (before we used a Brisque).

My question is simple. How to put automaticaly a "hairline" around each page to look at the trim box on an imposition job when we make imposition Proof ?

Because, if it is very easy on the Brisque and it seem to be impossible on Rampage (proof).

Thank you

Laurent (Lyon, France)

what version of Rampage are you on? On version 10, I believe you are able to print your guides on the imposition proofer - as long as you are using Ramproof Direct...

Sorry... we use last release of Rampage (10.2.50) and Preps 5.1.5.

Of course, I can put manually guide within imposition preview, but it is very long when there is a gang up (do I use correct word ? Gang Up / Ganging).

I can add a profile into Preps to add trimming box for proof, but when I want to make Plate, I must load another profile and shoot to make plate...

Preps 5.1.5 / Rampage 10.2.50 / MacOS 10.4.5

Use spot color

If you add the line in preps as a spot color, you can always turn it off when plotting. If your only printing process, you can even turn spot colors off in the profile.

Also, if you design it sort of like this:

|-------------------------|

you won't have to worry about turning it off, since it will be buried in the gripper and tail bend.

I've found the solution :

1) First, create a new folder in PREPS:MARKS:SMARTMARKS.

2) Locate in the Preps CD the folowing files and copy it into the folder you have created.
- BottomMargin_Top.smk
- TopMargin_Botton_smk
- RightMargin_Left.smk
- LeftMargin_Right.smk
- Gutters_Bottom.smk
- Gutters_Top.smk
- Gutters_Left.smk
- Gutters_Right.smk
- PressSheet_Bottom.smk
- PressSheep_Top.smk
- PressSheet_Right.smk
- PressSheet_Left.smk

4) Open Preps and select in the file menu "Open Smartmarks"
5) Click the color button and select SSICustomColor. You can leave the value as is (100)
6) Save
7) Repeat step 4 to 6 for each smartmarks.

8) when you have template job, select in the "Models" menu Import Smartmarks. You can see hairline around each page and sheet

9) when you print your work , you must select SSICustomColor as Overprint !, or if you use RAMPage, you can leave it, but don't forget when ripping the imposition to select Overprint for the SSICustomColor

10) On a proofer, leave as is, but when you make a plate or a film, don't forget to not print the SSICustomColor.

It work perfectly on standard template.

Laurent.
