From a design point of view MM fonts are supposed to be a great simplification to font management. You no longer need 10 faces of each font name to get the desired results. Instead you have one font that you can change the attributes of. MM fonts can be "programed" to allow you to change their weight making them as bold or light as you like, change their line length making them as condensed or expanded as you want, to virtually every attribute a font can have. Imagine replacing your current library of 3000 or so different font files with just 100?! AND having more choices out of those 100. Thing is no one is making them by the droves, or giving them away, nor do many applications fully support the features.
