Quark 6.5 printing problems

I'm trying to print a file created in Quark 5 using ver 6.5. The printed version contains boxes in any spaces between text. How do I remove these?

This sounds odd, what do the boxes look like?

It sounds like a font problem with the font unable to display the space character correctly. More info please

Ditto. As a test replace that particular text with another font and see if the boxes disappear. If it does it's a font problem.

Thanks...its certainly a font issue. When I highlight the sentence and change the font to frutiger 55 the spaces print as squares. I have to change individual words to change the font and not create the squares. As you can imagine, this is a nuisance!

Check your fonts for another set of Frutiger 55. There's a conflict of some sort with the version you have loaded or its corrupt. Close all unused fonts, open only the ones you are using.

The Organ Grinder speaks

Try quiting the application and opening the document again with the correct font loaded. If it's still goosed then try something like Font Finagler to clear your font caches or TCC

Fontfinagler first - only because the guy that wrote the software is a member here, thanks Mark.
