Quark = Pain
I have been fighting all day with a calendar done in Quark 6, so many problems with corrupt fonts, ghosting elements and huge arse images ARRRRRRR!
If this was done in InDesign it would of taken me about 1 hour to get out, instead im on 5 hours now and can't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Just confirmed this morning that our in-house designers have scheduled themselves to go from 6.52 to 7.x anytime soon. They all now have CS3, have had CS2 from day 1. They just can't bring themselves to swap over. The most recalcitrant one told me "Has anybody told you what a pain it is editing type in InDesign?!"...when I broached the topic a while ago.
Funny how the prepress grunts have NO choice about the learning InDes, whether we like it or not.
I'll be weeping for a week after we have to install it to process their F@#*ing jobs.

frailer
here's a tip - when you've installed the poxy QXP7 out of the box, download the upgrades from quack web site ok - my qxp7 wouldnt run out of the box at all. and good luck with the activation/registration game - i seemed to go round a little circle for a couple of hours punching in stuff.
osx 10.4.10, g5, 3g rammeroonies, silly size hard drive - so not really wanting in the engine room.
and all the very best in your quark experiences - to be fair, i've had few issues so far, and that annoying 'font may be corrupt' thing doesnt come up now....but dont try placing pdf1.4 or greater as you cant. transparency - forget it.

Oh, yeah...forgot, QXP still allows "styled" fonts, right? Why would they still allow this? To stay sweet with lazy layouters?
I musta done something terrible in a previous life. But have finally trained ONE of them convert to Plain fonts/supply Printer fonts before he supplies. It's taken about 2 years.

3 Steps to coping with Quark: - Open Applications folder.
- Drag Quark folder to trash.
- Perform secure empty trash.
