Quack 7 tip

if you get a windows based quack file that has a long file name it will crash quack everytime it tries to open it on a mac.

the solution

shorten the file name and it will open up no problem.

Your life will be a lot easier if you use what they use.

If it is a Mac classic app, open it is System 9, if it's a PC app, open it on a PC. If your company can't afford these "luxuries", look for a new company. It's that simple. Prepress doesn't have to be High Stress.

But looking for a new job isn't? WTF is that all about????
LMAO
I'm with you Steve, I open everything on the Mac except Pub files which I open long enough to pdf, my distaste showing clearly, and then edit in Illy or Acrobat on the Mac. XP doesn't kill me but I still have no use for PCs.

It seems to me doing it your way creates stress. Maintaining all those OS's and outdated Macs is not worth the effort. I have windows boxes here, but everything goes on the Macs. Pub files are the only exception, but even they end up on the mac as a PDF.

"Honey, my boss won't buy me a PC for working on PC Quark jobs. I'm afraid we have to move again. Don't worry, the kids will make new friends."

that is a pretty simple outlook...
