Quark 7 Bleed?

I am having trouble getting bleed with my new quark 7 and Apogee X 3.0 as my normailzer. Any ideas?

I don't have any problems with my old 6.5.

We had the same problem. For bleeds you must send the pages with bleed and "crop marks" for it to work. For example, if you have a 8.5x11 page with bleed you must send it letter extra--9x11.5 or 1/2" extra both vertical and horizontal with marks. When you place your normalized pdfs in their running order you must use the "center" feature to center in the proper size temple. So even though you sent a letter size page at letter extra it will center in 8.5x11 and the marks will be on the outside and not print.

When we first started working with Quark 7 and the bleeds weren't showing up, I was freaked! When I stumbled on this "send with marks" thing I was relieved. It's just another thing you need to remember when sending Quack files but it works well at least. What I usually forget to do is center the pdf in Apogee, if you don't the page shifts and it will show the marks.

Thanks for the help jimking. I have the Apogee default already set to center. It just doesn't make sense to have to go through all of this for bleeds.

Later

Try this

jimking try this

In your quark preferences > PDF > Select: Create postscript file for later
distilling
Then use the File > Export > Layout as pdf
Set your options in the export dialog box then save to a hot folder.

You don't have to create your postscript with "crop marks" on, just as long as the "paper size" is the size of your trim size+bleed, and of course apogee set to centre the resulting PDF. I only do this as our Apogee system will fail your job if you put crop marks on, as the filename slug is in courier.
