Quark forum needs to be moved...
into the Oddball forum as this is turning into the oddest ball at the party!
Quark 7.0 to 7.01 to 7.02 and finally to Quark 7.1 on an Intel iMac, open a document originally created in Quark 5. After saving it a few times to the desktop, not the server, it gives me a "Encountered an unexpected end of file marker". After that the file is hosed. You can still open it but the fonts have changed. text has reflowed, colors have changed and it's just a garbled mess. Checked out the Quark forums and others experience it also. Quark has a document out about it...blah blah blah...like it's an OS X or disk issue. Bullshit! It's this piece of garbage software they released before they have it working. Whatever happened to quality control?
So screw it, abandon Quark 7.1 altogether and go back to 6.5. I've got a copy of it on another computer that doesn't get used. I install that from the 6.1 CD to this Intel iMac. Installs fine, pop in the 6.5 updater CD to update to 6.5 and install quits about half way through with permission error (see other thread in forum about this issue) so....screw it again. delete 6.1 from Intel iMac, copy 6.52 folder over from other Mac. Works great, tells me to activate within 5 days, try to activate and it tells me I've already activated it the maximum amount of times which is fine. It's activated from work and home which is perfectly legal by the Quark licence agreement. I was expecting an option to deactivate from the other machine. No joy. So how do you move Quark 6.5 from one machine to another without making a tech support call to India....which I refuse to do!!!???
Have I mentioned Quark sucks from top to bottom?
