quark 7.0 exporting to pdf problems
Hi everyone,
Okay, first and foremost, I need to make it clear that I am by no means an expert... I'm the editor for a college newspaper, completely self-taught at Quark, so I'm sorry if my questions seem really novice and ignorant of something terribly obvious!
Anyway, I'm using quark 7.0 on windows xp, and I'm trying to covert the files to PDF to send to press. I export it to PDF, I get absolutely no error or anything, but some of the pages are completely blank, while some have just color boxes and text and are missing pictures. Am I missing a step before coverting it to PDF or does anyone have any fool proof way of exporting it?
Thanks,
Michelle

It sounds like you have OPI turned on. Are you getting all your text but no pictures at all?
When you go to "Export" - layout as PDF, click on the "options" button and in the list should be a preference for OPI. Select that and make sure that all the choices have a check mark in them to include all the files in the PDF.
hope this helps,
David

I'm gonna give this a shot, however, there is text missing in addition to just pictures - so if anyone has any other ideas, lemme know in the meantime! ;D thanks a bunch.

Possible there are items marked for non printing... There should be an override for that in the print area also. "Ignore Non-Printing Items".

This could be caused if the text is placed and linked and not embedded.
OPI would also make this not printing.

Are you sure you have nothing surpressed? You can have a picture surpressed but not the box it's in. I haven't got Quark available right now, but I seem to remember it being possible to have a layer surpressed for print but still visible.

How are you placing the pictures and text? Please don't say copy and paste.

I make a new text box and picture box for each item if that's what you mean... I also import each picture individually, I don't copy and paste them. However, this might make things trickier... We tried downloading an evaluation copy of Quark on another computer, and it worked fine. I don't know why this is.

Have you tried printing from quark, either directly to a printer or to a ps file for you to distill using acrobat distiller. Just to eliminate whether it is a Quark export to pdf problem?
