Color Bars in Quark

Well, I don't use Quark much anymore yet I have one customer that uses it. So we have Quark 6.5 on the Mac and what the customer wants is tall plates to have color bars on them, this include the spot colors. When printing from quark it seems to only put on the bars on the process color plates but not on the spot colors. Is there something I'm missing or is this a "feature" of Quark? I have workarounds but like I always say, workarounds take too long.
So if you have a workaround, I prefer not to know. I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Are you placing spot color bars on the layout and they don't print? What rip are you outputing to?? Are you printing as a composite or seps?? Are the other spot colors in the layout showing up on the plate (besides the color bars)??
