Left hand page to be page 1

Hello all
For the life of me i can't ermeber how to get page 1 (facing pages) to be a left hand page in quark. I'm using the auto number command in my master so page 1 has to say page 1. I just can't get it to work. Quark keeps putting it on the right hand side. Any suggestions??

Thanks

insert a blank page before the page you want to be pg 1, and then make the second page (which is to be your page one), a section start with pg #1.

voila! instant left hand page.

hope this helps,
David

Hello David

I've done that. The minute you make the section start at page 1 it pushes it to the right hand side. I think I have exhausted all my mental resources on this one. Try it and you'll see what I mean. Keep in mind i'm using faceing pages and auto numbering.
.
Thanks

yeah, you're right. The only way it works is if you turn off facing pages.

I did it with:
Insert a blank before pg 1,
facing pages selected,
made the fake pg1 a section start,
then turned off facing pages and it made the new pg1 a left page and left all the others as two page spreads.
But, you do still have a blank page before your "pg1".

Will that get it for you?

cheers,
David
