Quark 7 upgrade license problems

I have read about people being ticked off that once the install a QXP 7 upgrade, QXP 6 no longer works. I have run into a similar problem. I am using the 30 day trial of QXP 7 for testing. I went to use my QXP 6 and i got a message telling me my registration file is corrupt and the application needs to be reinstalled. However the application does seem to still work. Just want people to be aware of this. :x

The only machine I'll install this steaming pile o' crap on is an old-ass G4. And that will only be to save the files back to 6.5 so we can continue on our merry way. Or, distill to PDF to process through InDesign - even better.

It seems lots of people are having problems with this release of QX and 7.0.1

I was fine and didn't have to mess about with making preference folders inside the Quark folder until the commercial release.

Having said that, I have 6.5, 7 and 7.0.1 running on my my machine at work without issue.

There's loads of people reporting all sorts of misery with QX7 over on the Quark forums, but most of their problems aren't directly attributal to Quark.

Quark could have got this so much better, I fear Alma is right

Dupple:
How are you running 6.5 and 7 on your machine? We upgraded to 7 which rendered 6.5 useless. Call to India got us a solution:

"buy a complete version of Quark 7 if you still want to run 6.5............"

WTF?

Er, dunno just am

Seriously though, I really don't know. Inside my Quark preferences folder (User Library) I have a folder for 6 and 7.

If it's 7.0.1 it might be different, because it wasn't an upgrade, it was a whole new install and Quark really messed it up. It wasn't made clear at all.

How did you upgrade? the 7.0.1 upgrade wanted a valid reg number but it wanted a 6.5 number not a 7.0 number. That may be your problem.

Not using any flavour of 7 for production at the moment, we're holding for mission critical extentions, I can't even get an effing beta!

Sorry I can't be more help.

If I'm wrong I'm sure Almaink will put me right

I must be livin' right. I can use Q6.5, 7 and 7.0.1

I guess I am favored by the Quark Gods.

Same here, Running version 7.0 on the same machine as the 6.5 version that was used to upgrade from. The machine is running Tiger, I don't know if that will narrow this down or not. If I would of read this issue I probably would not of even attempted the upgrade.

Maybe you could try a re-install.

I didn't do anything different than any other versions.

it should narrow it down quite nicely, you need to be running Tiger for QX7
