Qxd7 and its Vista feature

I would highly recommend not using Q7s "vista" feature in collect for output.

YOU have the option of exporting your files as "placed" (scaled, skewed,crop,etc..) IT DOES NOT WORK.

It does what it says, but also created duplicates, so you really do not know which file to use, the cropping is hirendous as is the scaling.

I strongly recommend disabling the "vista" extension.

Well since Quack 7 is a .0 release I strongly recommend you don't use it for production work period. Wait for Quack to at least work out some of the kinks. By version 7.5 maybe they will have a production application but I'm not holding my breath.

I agree, but when you are at the mercy of your Client - you go with what you get.

Vista was actually a part of 6.5, right?

Yes it was, unfortunately. Disabling it was the first thing I did upon installing this dog that refuses to die, and I advised my 3 regular customers who still haven't upgraded to InDesign, to do likewise... Version 7 will be loads of fun I'm sure. Quark Color Management can no longer be turned off and from what I've seen using the demo for almost 6 months now, it's new transparency features will drive us up a wall when armchair designers get ahold of this puppy. Our shops policy is we will take .0 files but customer will pay for any extra time it may take to troubleshoot the file. They are always given the option to back-save the file to an earlier version that is know to work or submit a print ready PDF.
