installing 1 licence on 2 machines

I thought I read somewhere about Quark loosening up it's licencing restrictions on 6.5 to allow users to install one copy at work and one copy at home. Does anyone know if this is the case??

I just bought my self a brand new imac and will in the process of installing my work apps at home......I know I'll be ok with the Adobe creative suite but as far as Quark goes.......i personally find that it would be a ridiculous situation if they expected me to pay for a copy to use at home for work purposes. We have actually purchased 3 copies of Quark 6.5 at work (2 for macs and 1 for pc box).

I thought after quark got a flak of crap from users they changed their stance on this and will allow you to install 6.5 on 2 machines..

i'm not sure if you need to contact them to allow it, or if by default you can activate 2 copies of the same serial number.

okay, thanks....I'm just going to try and install it this weekend and follow the path that ensues.

I heard that Quark had done this as well but was not sure if it was just a rumor.

I'll make a post after the attempt.......

From the Quark web site:

http://www.quark.com/products/xpress...al%20licensing

QuarkXPress dual licensing

Can I install my single-user license of QuarkXPress? 6 software on another computer? If so, what is the process?
Yes. Dual licensing allows you to install your single-user license of QuarkXPress 6 on your secondary computer of the same platform. To activate dual licensing on the second computer, simply install QuarkXPress on that computer.

QuarkXPress dual licensing

I have one QuarkXPress 6 license, and I want to use a dual license on my laptop or home computer. Is that possible?
Yes, you can use a dual license on your secondary computer of the same platform provided that you are the primary user of the computers and you will use the dual license non-concurrently. A dual license is available only for one additional computer that you own. To activate dual licensing on the second computer, simply install QuarkXPress on that computer.

QuarkXPress dual licensing

How many dual licenses can I get? Can I obtain one for my laptop and one for my home computer?
You are eligible for one dual license per serial number, provided you are in compliance with the End User License Agreement.

I have 3 working Macs here at work with 2 versions of Quark.

One of the Macs is just being used as our "server".

I have the Quark from my Mac setup on that computer and don't have any issues. I only have it setup there as an emergency backup Mac in case my Mac goes nuts and won't work. Then I can move over to that "server" Mac and not miss any work.
I haven't ever had any issues with licensing or anything and didn't have any issues installing it either.
I think if you were to try and install it on more than 2 computers that you would have a problem and it wouldn't let you install unless you made that dreaded phone call to get the acceptance code.

I have my work version of Quark on my mac at home. All it took was a phone call.
We've done the same with other versions as well. My supervisor shares his work version with his home computer. Another artist shares their work version with their laptop.
Just make the phone call to activate.
