another quack 6.5 bashing
just got a new G5, dual core - tons of ram - osx10.4.5
Upgraded to Quack6.5.
we have a xitron rip and a Highwater Q2 - what this does is "borrow" the 1 bit seperated tiffs, re-combines them and creates a file for proofing. This gives us the ability to proof the Ripped file that is used for output, and we can approve or reject jobs before releasing them to the Xitron for output.
the problem is this. when sending a job from quark 6.5, all goes well. until it decided to do something that stops the Q2 from recognising all the seperations are in the same job. when we go to re-combine, it leaves out a colour - any randon one from the seperations. It creates another proof file for the now "lone" seperation.
have tried all sorts, from illy, quack6, in design, and all manner of apps - and its ONLY Quack 6.5 that has this. i've ripped 2 colour jobs - same result, 5 colur, 6 colour - all with the same result.
Highwater have a copy of my entire system and are totally baffled too!
Since all the other apps perform perfectly and even Quack6 does too - it has to be Quack 6.5. the only other thing new is OSx 10.4 - but it's fine - and everything else runs smoothly.
but i guess, like the "hide quark" function not working, it will be fixed in Quack 7. trouble is i have quack 6.5 - now.
f*kbuggerdam
