strange reflow trouble

good day,

i have a strange problem invloving reflow using quark 6.5. i have a document using the myriad OTF family of fonts. when i open up the document on a couple of our workstations, it views fine. when i open it up other workstations, it reflows. all machines are identical as far as system fonts goes. we do not use font management software...we simply copy the current font folder for whatever job we are working on into the user>library>fonts folder as we need them. up until now, i have not had any trouble with this. there does not seem to be any difference in quark xtensions, and the preferences seem identical. im really puzzled by this. anyone had a similar encounter they could share with me?

thanks

cr

how many machines are you talking about? Most font are encoded with a default of 5 computer user license. If you're exceeding this you might want to try and take the computer in question off your network after copying the folder and see if the problem persists. if it flows OK then I'd say it was the license issue.

How they do that I have no clue, I've just seen it happen before.

thank you very much for the reply...

i consulted the quark forums for problems of this variety, and found someone who had the same exact problem. he suggested cleansing my font caches using a utility called "font finagler", so i downloaded it, and used it. much to my pleasure it worked, just as advertised. now all of my fonts view consistently from workstation to workstation.

thanks again,

cr

We have the same problem. Myriad has always been a problem for us in Quark. Have not been able to find a solutions as of yet (well indesign). We just triple check everything now when myriad is being used.

chris_r, glad "Font Finagler" worked, I downloaded it several weeks ago and used to go through my entire library. I forgot all about until I read your reply, but yes it worked for me also.
