Problem printing postscript from Quark 6.1 on OSX-10.4.2

I'm new to this forum so I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me here. I have been running Quark 6.1 on a Mac G4 using OSX-10.3.8 with no problems for over a year. My company purchased a new G5 using OSX-10.4.2 and did a USB transfer of information between the old G4 Mac and the new G5 Mac. Now when I go to write Postscript out of Quark 6.1 on the OSX-10.4.2 G5, my "Output Options" in my print dialog box have vanished. It seems I no longer have the option of printing postscript, even though all my PPD's are exactly the same as the ones I used on my old G4. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Paul K,

Output options under 10.4, seems to no longer be an option....... I wish I knew what happened to it.

Click on the PDF button in printer menu. You will then get the oportunity to "Save PDF as Postscript" Beware though, you will get mixed results depending on the time of the day. (See my earlier post regarding rules dropping out on the postscript)

PDF's aren't reliable either. Sorry, I don't have a solution yet.

Anybody else writing out Tiger Quark postscript ?????????????

hell, just using quark with tiger is a pain.
Actually, making .ps files seem to be okay using the method you described (so far... knock on formica), it's just we're having trouble printing to a stupid laser printer.
We found out you can make a .ps file and drag and drop that onto the printer icon and you can print to a laser printer that way...
whoda' thunk!

The way they (quark) have it worded makes me nervous "save pdf as .ps". What up wit dat!!!

don't even want to hear "use indesign"...
not an option.

Thanks for all the advice and tips everybody.

Long story short...It seems as if OSX-10.4.2 (Tiger) no longer suppports "Output Options" in Quark 6.1 when you are in your print dialog. David was right, you have to go to "save pdf" and choose "save pdf as .ps" and THEN all the greyed out area such as bleed and whatnot are accessible and it saves it to a .ps file. What a pain in the @$$. I'm nervous about charging full steam ahead and just updating to Quark 6.5. I think I'm going to try to do a little more research.

On a side note, it also seems that saving a seperated postscript file on OSX-10.4.2 is no longer a choice either. That option disappeared as well.

Don't bother to charge ahead and upgrade to 6.5 just to fix this problem.
it doesn't work there either. you ned to use the save pdf as.ps feature in 6.5 also.

I have been using 6.5 with panther for a while with OK results but of course I upgraded to 10.4 and now quark is screwy.

lets hear it for quark one more time.

yes i know it might be an OS problem but quark is a pain.

The save pdf as ps is the same as it was in Panther, just called different. It doesn't make a pdf first and doesn't use the OS to generate a pdf
