Text box over Text box

Got a file from a customer in which they have type in the bottom text box as black. Then they placed a text box "with the exact same word" on top of that but made it PMS 541 and offset it maybe 1/16". They tried to create some sort of drop shadow effect. But when I send to my RIP or output seps, quark isn't dropping out the black text that overlaps. Instead it outputs both words for each color. It causing havoc when I try to have my trapping program trap it.

Check the trap setting in quark for the 541 plate. I'll bet it's set to overprint.

Also, check your rip's trap setting. If it's set to honor overprint settings, it will never "fix" it.

Set it to KO, and you'll be fine.
