All the more reason to take a closer look at Adobe's Version Cue

(sorry... as usual I'm being bias here... Even though I haven't quite mastered it! -- think of it as a "tracking" feature added to Adobe Apps...).

I type a ??? in front of the file name I want to replace. QuarkXPress looses the link and allows me to relink to another file. I do this if there are a few files to work with. Otherwise it would be too tedious.

I think what spawned the question was we were trying to do some spot varnishes as well as update links to new photos while trying to keep the old ones. I've also run into this problem when trying to double check a collect for output.
