unlinking pictures

I get jobs that i have to replace a lot of pictures in the file, is their a way you can break the link and just updat it to the new ones short of changing the old pics. names or moving them????

Not really, quark will remember the path. We always keep our images in a separate folder, so we can move (not copy) the folder into another folder temporarily to break the links, then update to the new images. If you are working on a server you could also try to save the file to your desktop (then un-mount the server) to break the links.

Try renaming the folder in which you have the pictures for the existing document. This will break the existing link.

I just add a ? (option - eight) before the file name, then the link is broken and you can re-link to the new file. Or, as Sunny_pandita mentioned, put the ? in front of the folder name, and the link to all the files inside should be broken.
