Quark 5 bugs

I have a client who has a customer who has said they do not want to upgrade from Quark 4 to Quark 5 because Quark 5 has bugs. We deal with numerous customers who use Quark 5 and have had little to no issues with their files. My customers client did not tell him what bugs there might by, but I was wondering if anyone may have any ideas as to what kind of bugs this person might be talking about.
Any input would be appreciated.

AFAIK any major bugs that were present were taken care of by point releases..

we use Quark 5 on a few jobs a month and haven't been bit by anything..

We use Quark 5 on all files supplied in version 4 also. We have not had any problems in translation. Of course, we seldom receive files larger than 48 pages and most are 1-4 pages.

I can understand your clients concern. When Quark 4 was launched it was full of bugs - took months to correct. We have not upgraded to 5 yet - but we are being 'forced to' upgrade as a result of OSX. has to happen sooner or later...

Quark 5 is notorious for unrecoverable corruption of long documents, for example 300-page text books.

Don't upgrade to Quark 5 if you expect to use it with OS X; 6 is the first version of Quark that supports X.

If you do upgrade to 6, at least wait until 6.1 comes out (any day now, supposedly) and has been around long enough that it's known to be stable. 6.0 still has the document-corruption bug, and apparently quite a few other problems as well.

I've seen many, many complaints about problems with product activation, printing, and service and support. There are a lot of indignant and bitter users out there.

One quirky thing i found was when exporting to pdf if hyperlinks is on under options, my printers rip couldn't handle it. At other jobs I have I've had no problems at all.

I'm running Quark 5.01 and OS 10.3.2, had to add the classic draw extension but am having no troubles at all.
