Make PDF from Quark with spot colors
Forgive me if this has been discussed previously.
Okay, I figured out how make a PDF from Quark with spot colors intact (not converted to CMYK). Except grayscale tiffs colored in Quark to a spot color. They still change to CMYK while a bitmap tif keeps the spot color. Anyone know how to make the spot stay a spot in the grayscale tiff?

Hay Joe,
I always run Quark postscript through Distiller to make my pdf's and my grayscale tiffs hold their spot Pantone color. (...so far anyway!)

Hmmmm....that's what I was trying using Quark 5 and Distiller 5. I had spot colors everywhere except the colorized grayscale tiffs. Might I ask what version of Quark and Distiller you are using? Also what Distiller options?

Are you using DeviceN as a color mode?

No, my only choices are "Black & White", "Grayscale", "Composite CMYK", and "Composite RGB".

What version of Quark are you using?
If you are using Quark 6.5 then you should have DeviceN
If you are using Quark 4 or 5 you should install the Creo Color TIFF XT Xtension. This allows you to print spot colored tiff correctly from Quark 4 or 5.

Joe,
I'm glad Brian found your solution... I took a day off and just got back to the Forums!
