registration marks and slug lines disappearing

Anybody else had the problem of Quark registration marks and slug lines disappearing on their jobs?? Everything comes out fine on the black plate only.

It seems to happen intermittently and is worse when the job is preseparated.

It is not affecting the actual inside jobs...only the borders.

I posted this on the Apogee x forum as well because that's the rip we're using......

Might be a Quark 5 thing.

this will happen to me sometimes when I prep PDF's for our rampage rip..

for some reason when the PDF is made the registration color is picked up as a Rick Black, and a keep away is performed...basically eliminating all undercolor leaving only black..

can you run the same job without trapping?

I have been using Quark 5 more and more lately to output because some people seem to think that saving down to 5 from 6 is the way to go... and I'm sick of jumping back and forth from 4 to 5. (can't wait for 7!!)

I don't think it's a trapping issue..seems to make no difference there.

I always had problems with saving files in Quark 5. Still had problems with Quark 6 and 6.1, however with 6.5, most of my problems have gone away.

I think it maybe a problem with the apogee rip. We use an apogee rip to drive our sherpa and we changed a setting on it so when we send a separated job to it, it would change the Registration to print in black only. This would avoid all 4 colours printing on the reg marks tick marks etc which would end up looking messy.
