Postscript driver not responding

one more try . . . I posted this yesterday, but no reply.

Exporting Layout as PDF from Quark 6.5, error message reads "The Postscript driver has not responded for 60 seconds. There could be an error or a normal delay caused by the complexity of the layout. Would you like to continue trying?"

I clicked yes and the error repeated itself after about 60 more seconds.
The file is not that complex; 9x12, 4/4 tri-fold. We do much more complex files all the time, I have yet to see this error. (Running OS 10.3.7, Quark 6.5.)

Any ideas would be much appreciated!>

Save file as a ps and distill.
Delete your chosen printer and set it up again.
Try a different ppd.

thanks guys,

I opted for save page as EPS and drop into InDesign CS yesterday, worked fine for me. this was the first problem we have had w/ quark 6.x, didn't know if this was a "common error" for quark.?.?
i appreciate your thoughts.

There are lot of this which you ca try:

>Thumbnail drag between the document.
>Delete the Jaws folder in QuarkXPress Application folder.
>Add a virtual printer 127.0.0.1. Make this as a default printer and export as PDF.

Either way works fine. I perfer to do the print ps file and distill myself. Once the pdf is created, I get a better view of everything through acrobat. Also, I can simply use the ps file to rip.

It is a fonts issue. Replace the fonts in the document and it will help.

We had the same error come up on two different Macs yesterday. Our solution was to copy the job folder to the local desktop and open the qxd file from there and then export the pdf to the local desktop and then copy just the pdf back to the server. Worked perfectly.
