Printing DCS to PDF from Quark

How do you create a PDF from a photoshop DCS file?
As to send to distiller you need to send composite but to print a DCS file you need to send seperations.

I'm not sure what you are asking..so if I'm off track excuse me. Would you not save an eps with include images and then Distille it from Quark? Or could you resave the dcs file in photoshop as pdf replace in Quark starting from there.

The DCS file contains CMYK and a pantone, so as soon as i save it as an EPS TIFF or PDF it looses it's pantone channel.

Which version of Photoshop do you have? What version of Quark? What's the workflow?

Usually, I build a DCS file in Photoshop, save it as 1 file color composite, use it in Quark 6.5 and then Export to PDF using "DeviceN" setting - or I will go through the Print dialog, choose one of my color printers but will choose Print to PDF.

Hope this helps.

export your photoshop image that contains a spot chanel as a DCS 2.0 with single file and 72dpi composite preview...

use a program called DCS Merger to translate your dcs file into an EPS (drag and drop!!)...import the translated EPS into quark and create a postscript file....distill......you will create a Composite PDF with a working spot color.

visit this link for info on DCS merger: http://www.thepowerxchange.com/freeh..._975_prd1.html

ps - quark is horrible with dcs files...Indesign will handle the DCS 2.0 and properly create a PDF without any extra hassle!!

pps- i have tested the above method with acrobat 5,6 and quark 4,5,6.

Quark, terrible with DCS File? What The??

Excuse me man, but I've been outputting DCS from quark for atleast a dozen years now. How long has InDesign been available? Besides the fact, Desktop Color Separation (DCS) was a Quark innovation in the first place. Quark invented DCS if I'm not mistaken? InDesign is OK but a Quark Killer it is not. IMO

Save a file in Photoshop in DCS 2.0 format and import it in QuarkXPress 6.1.
Navigate through File > export layout as PDF and hit options in the window.
Choose output tab, choose type composite and print colors to DeviceN. This will export a PDF from Quark including sport color.
